Neil Merryweather - Kryptonit

Canadien bass player and singer Neil Merryweather has played in a lot of bands since the late ’60s, but this band, under his own name is the best.

Kryptonit is a smokin’ glam rocker from outta space! Total party album!

This is the original US pressing from 1975. Released by Mercury Records.

John Coltrane - Sun Ship

In 1965, John Coltrane could do no wrong. As amazing as his career was, this is for me the peak of his creativity. All of the albums recorded this year has stood the test of time, and now nearly 50 years later, they still sound fresh and are cornerstone albums in music history.

Sun Ship was one of the last albums recorded by the classic John Coltrane Quartet. These sessions took place in august of ‘65, and by january of 1966, both McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones had quit. Sun Ship is also a bit forgotten in the vast Coltrane discography and should definitely be higher up on the list of his greatest albums.

The total frenzy and spiritual performance on this album, and in this year is breathtaking. If you don’t like this, you don’t like music.

Recorded in 1965, but not released until 1971. This is the original US pressing released by the mighty Impulse! Records.

The Third Power - Believe

Now this was a great heavy rock power trio from Detroit Rock City. Although they never achieved the fame and glory as their peers in The Stooges, MC5, Frost, SRC etc, they are well worth checking out. More in the vein of Cream than the typical mayhem of The Stooges, this is a great long lost rocker. Sadly their only album…

This is the original US pressing from 1970. Released by Vanguard.

McCoy Tyner - Extensions

Recorded in 1970, Extensions was the follow up to Tyner’s 1968 masterpiece Expansions. And this one is just as good. I mean, look who’s playing on this recording: Tyner, Wayne Shorter, Gary Bartz, Ron Carter, Elvin Jones and the fantastic Alice Coltrane on Harp! Her presence really makes this one a special one.

Four beautiful Tyner originals, the opening track “Message From the Nile” being the highlight. Essential Stuff!!!

Recorded in 1970, but not released until 1972. This is the original US pressing released by Blue Note.

Entombed - Hollowman EP

Here is something you don’t see everyday… Released just before Entombed unleashed the masterpiece Wolverine Blues, this EP contains some of Entombeds best songs. Some of which they still play live. The best tracks being Serpent Speech, Bonehouse and Put Off The Scent.

If you’re into Wolverine Blues, you will love this… One of my most treasured records!

This is the original UK 12” EP. Released in 1993 by Earache.
